Since 1984, Robin Minard has created sound installations in public space. His “plant speakers” invade the upper floor windows and obstruct the view of the Place des Terreaux. The installation of hundreds of small high-frequency Piezo speakers and the use of low volume sound, in a four-track arrangement, gives an organic and mysterious quality to technology. The work emits high-pitched, yet relatively quiet, sounds composed of a mixture of natural and synthetic sources. The external noise from the fountain blends perfectly within this sonorous quasi-organicity.
