En Liberté… après L’École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon (Set Free… After the École des Beaux-Arts de Lyon)
The Villa du Parc (Annemasse) and the BF15 collaborated in holding an exhibition in two separate spaces, bringing together the works of former students from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. The two structures, different in size and objective, both share a particular interest in the work of young artists.
The title of the exhibition raises questions concerning the relationship between autonomy and teaching: what is taught in art? How is artistic freedom encouraged by the academy? Moreover, a number of these works make reference to learning. It would be limiting, however, to see in these works no more than the shift from work produced within the confines of an art school to work produced independently. Art is always a freeing of forms and a freeing of thought!
